Yoga
a life-long practice...

Breathe the fresh air of a clear mind, in a strong, peaceful body.

Yoga class and workshop schedule can be found here.

Yoga teaches us to move with a softness that becomes vitality,
flexibility that arises through perseverance,
and mental clarity that is the gift of sustained attention
on sensation and presence.
In yoga we build skills and cellular memory,
that make life rich and beautiful,
relaxed and nourishing.

The best gifts of yoga are available in all levels of practice, from the gentlest to the most intense.
This is why true yoga is available to everyone and is a regenerative practice for the very young to the very old.

Yoga is practiced in classes of many varieties. Private Yoga lessons are also available and help you to deepen your practice, or help you to come back to yoga after an injury or an absence. Private yoga lessons can be a stepping stone to becoming comfortable in a class format, teaching you how to modify class settings to your specific needs.

Yoga, meditation, and qi bodywork are medicine to all aspects of our being...

PHYSICAL HEALTH… healing and care of the physical: posture, organ systems, mobility, groundedness, muscular strength and coordination, joints, hormonal balance, blood, brain, bones, digestion, heart health…reduction of stress and symptoms of dis-ease…
ALIGNMENT…to fine tune alignment is to ease pain, feel energized, and refresh our embodiment daily.
BREATH…both the quality of the natural breath (what is your breath showing you about how you are and what you feel right now?) and the transformational quality of conscious breath (Changing your breath changes everything.)

EMOTIONS…emotions are felt as energy in our bodies, as a force. Emotions are full of messages, information, sometimes guidance. Sometimes emotion causes pain and physical ailments. Emotional release is a natural part of strong health practices and combined with meditation increases emotional intelligence and inner freedom.

MIND…in present mind, in awakening awareness, we find wisdom that informs true strength of being, inner peace, and our capacity to be creatively present in our lives and the lives of those around us.

ENERGY…transmutation of dense/stagnant states into vibrant qi.
RELAXATION…complete conscious relaxation is an essential skill, cultivated through mindfulness.. refreshing, regenerative, delightful. “Whether talking or remaining silent, whether moving or standing quiet, the Essence itself is ever at ease.” Daishi Learning how to live and move in an energized relaxed state reduces stress and nourishes present day and long-term health.

Friday Morning Yoga
Oct 30 @ 9:00 am – 10:45 am

Friday Morning Yoga session:

Full Body Yoga and Herbs/Plant Medicine for Immunity and Resiliency with inspiration from Joanna Macy’s “The Work that Reconnects”.

A 12-week session beginning November 22.

9:00-10:45am,  12 Merrow Road, Storrs, CT

In our Friday morning classes this winter I’d like to open our minds to a deepening understanding of herbs and plants for strengthening immune response and building resiliency in the body…to understand more clearly the actions plant medicines create in the body and the cascading connectedness of those actions in our bodies for strong health.

We’ll also bring forth contemplative pieces of the work of Joanna Macy as a response to the challenges of our time.

Joanna Macy (born May 2, 1929), is an environmental activist, author,

scholar of Buddhism, general systems theory, and deep ecology.

She is the author of eight books.

As a response to the times we are in, we have a strong motivation to hone our skills of self awareness and emotional presence. To call ourselves into a deeper relationship to the land and to each other. Harvest the maturity and depth of being, the empowered responses that come from working compassionately with pain. Some talk of Joanna Macy’s contribution as ‘actionable hope.’ We can break open our accustomed ways of seeing. We can charge the idle moment with beauty and grace amidst the challenges. As life is happening we are changing; this is always true. We are always becoming, whether unconscious or conscious. In Joanna Macy’s work we find insight and inspiration for being helpers along the way here, for ourselves and for the future of our earth and all her creatures.

I hope you can join us!

Our yoga will be full body yoga with attention to detail, alignment, efficient energetic flow, growing strength and flexibility, centering practices and deep wellness.

with joy!

You’re welcome to sign up for the session: 12 weeks at $12 per class (that’s $144 for the session), or drop in anytime at $18 per class.

A morning practice in the wonderful space of Mansfield Academy of Dance. All levels of practice are most welcome!
